Hi there, I’m Jenny Yue Wang 🙂 I’m a third-year Sociology major and one of your peer advisors for this year! I’m excited to help my fellow peers to discover what their passions are and help make choosing majors a little easier! A little bit about me: I came to university with the goal of becoming a pharmacist, but I caught the sociology bug in the second year of study and has never looked back since! As your peer advisor, I can help you find the balance between academic life and extracurricular activities, and also introduce you to the wide range of opportunities that we have available within the sociology department! Hello, I’m Yasmeena, one of your Sociology Peer Advisors for the current academic year! I’m a fifth year Sociology major and Political Science minor, which means that the best ten dollars I ever spent went into purchasing the Communist Manifesto. Currently, my main area of interest both within Sociology and Political Science is public policy issues and how the different interactions between members of society and institutions can ultimately shape public policy decisions. In addition to assisting you with writing better papers and studying more efficiently, I can also help point out interesting electives you may not have known were offered by the department. I’m especially excited to help students take advantage of all the awesome opportunities UBC Sociology offers since many undergraduates who explore these opportunities often gain unforgettable experiences.
