The current delivery model for the ‘Develop with Care 2014: Environmental Guidelines for Urban and Rural Land Development in British Columbia‘ is not easily accessible for the intended user group. The document is not well advertised online or by other affiliated groups, and the title is not clear enough for the document to come up during a general online search.
The document needs to be edited in order to obtain buy in from all affected stakeholders. Edits need to be made to allow for a more applicable use of this document by a broad range of users. Some key edits that need to be made to make the document more applicable and easier to understand include:
- More definitions of key terms are required
- Document must be more accessible to the intended target audience; municipalities could provide a link to this document as a place to start planning development projects.
More feedback is required from developers, municipalities, contractors, consultants and other stakeholder groups. A multi-disciplinary working group would be a valuable tool when this document is next edited.
