Areas of focus this week:
- Transitions between the different activities and allowing students for water breaks.
- Cell-phone policy in the gym and setting expectations.
- Addressing points of leadership and respect with our gym time.
What I felt good about:
- Starting with the opening of exit slips and introducing student portfolio.
- Encouraging students with positive descriptive feedback.
- Allowing student autonomy within ideas of improvement within drills.
- Counting through the stretching time and emphasizing respect and leadership through the whole process.
- After each drill, bringing the students in and asking questions “what work well in this activity” and “what didn’t “
- Introducing the “ready position” on my whistle; this allows students to stop dribbling and have their full-attention on me.
What I want to work to improve:
- Having teams do a demo first and adding descriptive feedback to the rest of the students.
- Emphasizing on each objective during each activity, and clarifying.
- Continue to emphasize the importance of the daily five and student expectations during each lesson.
