My philosophy of education is to focus on the growth and development of the student and most significantly to enhance the core competencies of the new BC curriculum. I am passionate about creating a safe space for students where they are able to discover their own talents, participate in learning experiences that are personally engaging, and learn from their own mistakes. I believe in taking the learning experience beyond the classroom and making relevant connections with the community. I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment and accepting diversity both in and beyond the classroom. As I have inquired into the core competencies of the BC curriculum, I believe personal and social responsibility is very beneficial as it provides the opportunity for students to take initiative and develop leadership skills; leadership skills that would be a necessary asset in helping with classroom management skills. I believe this should be practiced in the classroom and applied to life beyond the classroom. With this belief I am hoping that I will continue to grow and search for new innovated teaching strategies that focuses on student centered classes and student engagement. This type of education embodies the pillars of my philosophy and will inspire students to reach their full potential and leave a lasting impact on their communities.
