COVID: As of October 1, the Government<\/a> of Canda reports that “All federal border testing, quarantine, and isolation requirements [have] ended.” This means that you do NOT need a COVID test, proof of vaccination, or any other COVID-related document to enter Canada. On UBC campus, we do not require masks or other measures, although masks and vaccinations are encouraged and welcome.<\/p>\n

HOTEL: Presenters will stay at Gage\/Orca Suites on UBC campus (see map<\/a> below). Check in at the front desk, located at 5959 Student Union Blvd, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z1, and they will direct you to your room. The rooms have been transferred to your names! Tamara will pay for the hotel through her department account, however, they may request a credit card for “incidentals.”<\/p>\n

GETTING TO HOTEL (from the YVR airport):<\/p>\n

  1. Taxi (~$37CAD, 20-25 minutes)<\/li>\n
  2. Uber or Lyft (~$20CAD, 20-25 minutes)<\/li>\n
  3. Public Transit (~$9CAD, 50-60 minutes): The cheapest route from the airport (YVR) to various parts of town is the Canada Line\/Skytrain<\/a>. As noted by the Translink Trip Planner,<\/a>\u00a0to go from YVR to UBC on public transit you would take the Canada Line train to any of three stations before transferring to a bus trip westward:
    \nOption 1: Broadway\/City Hall Station (take the 99 bus west, which is the most frequent bus line in Vancouver and recommended as the easiest route);
    \nOption 2: King Edward Station (take the 25 bus west from there);
    \nOption 3: Langara\/49th Station (take the 49 bus west from there).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Please be sure to check pandemic regulations and vaccine requirements<\/a> for international travellers to Canada. That same website<\/a> contains important information about the ArriveCAN app, which is required to enter Canada.<\/p>\n

    With mountain and ocean views, UBC is located within short walking-distance from Pacific Spirit Forest and Wreck Beach.
