In his blog Ray Hennessy talks about how essential it is for the company to establish ‘warm’ atmosphere and relationships between employees and company in general.

A good work environment is characterized by a high degree of trust and respect among employees of all levels. All forms of diversity and positions are respected. This avoids personal conflict and unhealthy competition. It also creates a sense of openness where problems are discussed openly instead of in a gossiping manner. Employees feel valued and rewarded which creates a sense of loyalty to the organization. From my sight, I think the ideal example of such company was discussed in class – Zappos. Zappos is all about happiness – happy employees and happy customers. They give the creative freedom and autonomy to employees to follow their passions in a way that suits them best.

I think the importance of a positive work environment cannot be exaggerated. It is a difficult to transform a negative workplace into a positive one, and it takes considerable time to change ideals, however it deficiently worth it.
