A social entrepreneur is a path breaker with a powerful new idea who combines its own needs for money and society needs of improvement. The interest in social entrepreneurs is rapidly growing now. The public often hold social entrepreneurs in high regard because of the social needs they satisfy and the improved life quality they bring to affected societies.

In class we discussed various social enterprises that already exist. For me the most remarkable one was Eco-paper. The environmental impact of producing paper is significant, which has led to changes in industry and behavior at both business and personal levels. It is widely known that manufacturing paper from the trees rises: deforestation, air pollution, water pollution, waste and usage of non-renewable resources. Situated in Ethiopia Eco-paper was created by Sauder Alumni Tesfaye Mekonnen. Tesfaye recycles waste matter into paper and produces paper using raw materials such as banana skins, recycled waste paper, teff straw, cotton, and even pineapple skin.

From my point of view, it is outstanding opportunity that can expand even worldwide! Just imagine how people and Earth in general would benefit from it!
