\nFor those who wish (as I say, this is optional), below are the instructions to enroll in the iLrn online system that accompanies the (obligatory) textbook.<\/p>\n

I will send out more details later for those who are choosing now to take part in the iLrn exercises.<\/p>\n

I should also point out that though iLrn is optional for this class, I can by no means guarantee that it will be optional for SPAN102 (indeed, it probably will not be). As such, you may only be postponing the pain.<\/p>\n

And I would also emphasize that the more practice you do outside of class the better. iLrn is at least conveniently organized in sync with the textbook.<\/p>\n

Creating a Heinle Learning Center Account<\/p>\n

If you do not have an account, you need to create one. To do so, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

Go to http:\/\/ilrn.heinle.com<\/a> and click LOGIN.
\nClick the Create account button.
\nSelect a username and password and enter your information, then click Submit.<\/p>\n

Note: Remember to write down your username and password and be sure to select the correct time zone. Also, please enter a valid e-mail address so we can send you your password if you forget it.<\/p>\n

Entering the Book Key and Course Code<\/p>\n

Enter the book key and course code to complete the enrollment process. You may already have a book key, or you may need to purchase a book key. Depending on your situation, use one of the procedures below. If you activated the book for a previous course, you can start at step 5 of I already have a book key below.<\/p>\n

Once you have completed this step, the system lists the course and book on the Student Workstation home page. To enter additional books, enter a book key in the Enter field and click Go.<\/p>\n

Note: Book keys can only be used once. Your book key will become invalid after you use it.<\/p>\n

Go to http:\/\/ilrn.heinle.com<\/a> and click LOGIN.
\nEnter your username and password and click Log in.
\nAt the top of the page, enter your book key and click Go.
\nClick Confirm to confirm your registration information. Your book will appear under the My books heading.
\nBeside the book listing, enter the course code GMXA638 in the Enter course code field and click Go.
\nIf necessary, select a class or section and click Submit.<\/p>\n

I need to purchase a book key<\/em><\/p>\n

Go to www.nelsonbrain.com<\/a> and follow the instructions to purchase a book key. Your key should either be for an iLrn or Quia eSAM, depending on the title being used in your course.
\nNow that you have your book key, go to http:\/\/ilrn.heinle.com<\/a> and click LOGIN.
\nAt the top of the page, enter your book key and click Go.
\nClick Confirm to confirm your registration information. Your book will appear under the My books heading.
\nBeside the book listing, enter the course code GMXA638 in the Enter course code field and click Go.
\nIf necessary, select a class or section and click Submit.
