Saludos a todos: llegamos al fin. Aqui algunos detalles.
The following information is to be passed on to students:
The Final Exam is a two hour exam. The format is essentially the same as the previous midterm but, of course, longer. Although there may be some emphasis on the last two or three chapters, the exam is all inclusive up to and including Lección 6. If any of you want to discuss the preparation of the exam, please let me know as soon as possible. Otherwise, as usual, students can expect to be able to:
I) Fill in the blanks in situations where they have to:
a) Conjugate verbs in specified contexts using the forms studied up to now:
-present indicative (regulars, irregulars, stem changers)
-present progressive
-ser vs estar
b) Use all structures studied to date, such as: comparatives, demonstratives, direct object pronouns, tener expessions, weather expressions, etc.
c) Complete sentences with appropriate vocabulary:
-Mi hermana no es morena, es ……………….
-Necesito un impermeable porque ……………
B) Answer open ended questions in an original manner. There will be about ten of these questions which will require brief (5 to 10 word) answers [the questions will be similar to those in the Para conversar or Para conocernos mejor sections in the text]
C) Write ONE short paragraph or dialogue based on situation-like topics or questions. You may be given a choice of topics and they will be similar to those that appear in the Qué dice Ud. sections at the end of each lesson. This part will account for about 20% of the exam. A production of about 90 words is expected.
D) Translate into Spanish. This section is text-specific and comprises the translation into Spanish of short situational exchanges or paragraphs similar to those we practice in class. This section is all inclusive in terms of vocab and structures and will account for about 35% of the exam.
