Información sobre el examen parcial II

As indicated in the syllabus,  El examen parcial II will be held on Friday, November 3rd.  The length of the exam is 50-55 minutes.  Please try and arrive 5 minutes early to our regularly scheduled classroom that day.  Pencil is recommended or bring white-out if you plan to use a pen. The format is very similar to first midterm.  It will include all information listed on the syllabus from Chapters 3 &4 (including the imperfect).  Please note, if a grammar point is not on the syllabus, it will NOT be on the exam. For example, the relative pronouns (3.4); the two other HACE expressions and the Subjunctive mood will not be included.  CONTENT FOR 201 EXAM II: Students are expected to:         I) PART I  (1/3 approx.) – Fill in the blanks in situations where they have to:  *Verbos que requieren una construcción especial:  Gustar, Encantar, Quedar, Faltar, Doler.

*Fill in the blank of a story with either the Imperfecto o el Pretérito

*Be able to use  los verbos que cambian de significado en el pretérito in context

*Por vs. Para

*Comparativos de desigualdad e igualdad

*Expresión de tiempo con HACE – p 99.  ONLY the 1st one!

We have been waiting for them for half an hour.

They have been here for 3 weeks.

-How long has he been teaching here? – He has been teaching here for 2 years.

 

PART II  (1/3 approx.) – Chose 1 topic and answer in a short paragraph.  Min 125 words but you should not shoot for the minimum.  You may be creative and make up stories if you want!   When writing, keep in mind: Content, Flow, Degree of Difficulty, Originality & Overall Expression in the target language.

 

Overly simplistic paragraphs and answers that don’t beyond the questions themselves, will NOT receive top marks.

 

Option A:  Las mejores celebraciones del ano  (lección 4)

Option B:  Tu vida universitaria  (lección 3)

*Note* you will need to use the past tenses in your paragraph

PART III  (1/3 approx.) D) Translate into Spanish. This section is text-specific and comprises the translation into Spanish of short situations or paragraphs similar to those we practice in class [with Práctica de Traducción II].  This section is also all-inclusive in terms of vocabulary and grammar structures studied so far this semester.  Knowledge of the specific vocabulary of from lessons 3 & 4 lesson is very important!
