\"\"Dr. Carolina Navarrete,<\/strong><\/a> is Research Director (Directora of \u00a0Investigaci\u00f3n) at Universidad de La Frontera, Associate Professor of \u00a0\u00c1rea de Literatura del departamento de Lenguas, Literatura y Comunicaci\u00f3n de la Facultad de Educaci\u00f3n, Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, Universidad de la Frontera, Chile.<\/p>\n

Her research focuses on Women’s\u00a0Comparative Literature, Gender Studies, Narratives of the Self, \u00a0and Literacy Advocacy. She coordinates\u00a0Estudios Culturales, Discurso y Comunicaci\u00f3n del Doctorado en Cs. Sociales de la UFRO; and is the Director of Revista ZUR.<\/a><\/p>\n

Dr. Navarrete\u00a0obtained her PhD in Literature at the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica (Chile) with the highest distinction. She is a\u00a0Post-Doctoral Fellow from the\u00a0Liu Institute for Global Issues in the\u00a0Latin American Studies Program at UBC.<\/p>\n

About Palabras madre-Mother Words: Bridging people and land through language: words that matter from Mapudungun, to Spanish, to English<\/strong><\/pre>\n

Students from Span 301-102 through Spanish for Community, guided by scholars from UFRO and members of the Mapuche nation, will create an anthology of words and poetry from Mapuche authors in Mapuzugun and Spanish, providing an English translation. Students will reflect on both texts and the translation process, find images from the local landscape and arts, creating a visual connection between words and territories. The combination of texts and images will be integrated in a blog.<\/p>\n

  • Creation of a blog with a trilingual multimedia anthology (Mapuzugun-Spanish-English) of a glossary of key concepts from Mapuche ancestral knowledge and poetry by Mapuche authors. This anthology, related to nature and land, is based on the project central theme of Indigenous and Earth rights.<\/li>\n
