Hello world, my name is Spencer Goodman, and I am a second year commerce student studying at the University of British Columbia. I enjoy playing sports, a lot, and it takes up most of the time outside of school. I play a lot of soccer. I tore my ACL in February 2010, and am happy to say that it is finally back to where I can play competitively again. I am currently in a marketing class, COMM 296, that requires a blog to be written, so here I am. I have a general knowledge in marketing as I took it in high school in grade 11 and 12, and was probably my favourite course both years. Something I find interesting about it is the constant change in ‘tactics’ and strategies of companies, and how each company has to adapt to the consumer. My favourite line of ads have to be the ones put out by Nike. I like how they target different audiences with different messages. Sometimes the message will be motivation, how failure leads to success, telling the story of different athletes growing up, etc. Here is an example of one of my favourite ones from Michael Jordan… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zSVu76AX3I&feature=related. I have already touched on some things about myself, but another thing about me is that I am a part of the fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta where we pride ourselves on being the top philanthropic fraternity on campus.

Welcome Spencer, I am glad you are injury free too. If you were not in sports do you think you would be as drawn to Nike ads? I was in a women’s fraternity at University of Calgary…they are on UBC campus, I will let you try to figure out which one!
