I. Exposition

Exposition: the background information to the audience about the plot, characters’ histories, setting, and theme

I began my Master of Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia in January 2011.  What unfolded was an experience that  has become an important piece of my life.  The experience can best be described using a metaphor: the play.  Throughout the months of study, I have experienced both comedy and tragedy through five different stages: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement.   I felt this metaphor not only connects to my passion of teaching English and the arts, but also shows the development of myself, the actor, through the ventures that have made this experience so worthwhile.

The purpose of this ePortfolio is to:

  • capture my capstone experience that meets the requirements of the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS) and the UBC’s Faculty of Education
  • complete the requirement for BC teachers who wish to qualify for salary category six.
  • synthesize and reflect on my learning experiences in the field of educational technology, and generate research findings and/or link theory/research to practice.
  • share my experiences, artifacts, and leraning progress with MET classmates, instructors, and future employers

The audience of the ePortfolio will be my fellow classmates and instructors, future employers, and the TQS committee.  The metaphor of this ePortfolio will help connect to my field of teaching and showcase how technology and the art of learning English can be blended succesfully together.
