Happy New Year Everyone!
First, apologies for the late post, but I was having difficulty logging in to the blog. I think I have it figured out now.
This is my 6th MET course (and I am also taking 510 as my 7th). I have taken 500, 511, 512, 540 and 565M so far. I am excited and nervous, but am looking forward to learning with everyone. I can’t wait to learn more about how to integrate technology into my math and science grade 7 classroom.
For the past 7 years, I was teaching a variety of primary grades in Vancouver, but this summer I made the move back home to Williams Lake and am teaching grade 7 at a middle school (definitely a learning curve). I have limited technology in my current classroom (we share a laptop cart between 10 grade 7 classes). I recently signed up to be part of our district technology committee so I am hoping that this will change in the coming months.
In my spare time, I love running, hiking, snowshoeing, and just exploring the outdoors. We have lots of beautiful areas to explore here so I’m looking forward to spring weather.

Hi Nicole!
It’s so interesting how the amount of technology available varies from district to district and even within schools in the same district! I think that is great that you have taken initiative and are a part of the district technology committee! Looking forward to working and learning with you this term 🙂
I agree! It’s frustrating that we don’t have a system that ensures all students have the same access to technology. I went from a school with a 1:1 program to now having to sharing 30 laptops between 10 classes.
Looking forward to learning with you this semester.
Nicole
Wow that is big change going from 1:1 program to sharing and not having much access!
In my late teens, I remember going to the Williams Lake area in the winter to participate in cross country ski events. The area is very beautiful and the people were very friendly.

Our winters are definitely beautiful when it’s snowing. We have even more cross-country trails now in both 100 Mile and Williams Lake. By the time February hits though, I am ready for spring. We usually get snow until April so we have a long way to go.
