Assignment 2

I created a Website to house my final project, which I feel still needs a lot of work to fill out. Most of the work of the final project is in the academic paper but I have filled in the site with a few things I plan to build into it in the future.

Assignment 2- Option 1

Hello everyone! I am doing option 1 (a blog) for assignment 2. I have done all my posts for the efolio as listed in the lessons.

Although, I am not sure if there is a synthesis required in the end. If so, what should it include? I have tried to get in touch with Christopher recently but he seems to be very busy with the finals and hasn’t gotten back to me.

Could someone please clear this up?

Thank you,

GK

Assignment Option 2 – TELE – “Heat is Cool”

Hi everyone! Here is the final version of my TELE design project:

heatiscool.weebly.com

I wasn’t sure where to post this so I categorized it within a few different categories. For my TELE project I decided to focus on student misconceptions, or “alternative conceptions” of Heat and Temperature, designing three detailed lessons heavily utilizing the Energy2D simulations tool. I really hope you enjoy it.

It has been wonderful discussing things with you all this term and I wish you all the very best!

Extra – Webinar: An Introduction to Student Exhibition Nights

Thursday, April 19, 2018
6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET (register)

On Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET, iNACOL will host a Teacher Talk Webinar to provide an overview of student exhibition nights, explore ways these exhibitions can promote student agency and success, and offer ways to get started.

Educators across the nation are co-creating with students authentic, real-world personalized learning opportunities to promote deeper learning and prepare all students for success. Some schools are implementing student exhibition nights as a means for students to showcase projects, celebrate learning, and engage in interactive learning opportunities with their families, community members, and special guests.

Join this webinar to hear teachers from Simpsonville Elementary School (KY) share their experiences with implementing student exhibition nights at their school. Teachers will share tips on making exhibition nights a success, examples of student projects, and ways to foster student agency, voice and choice in the learning process. Learn promising practices to bring student exhibition nights to your school or district.

iNACOL CEO Susan Patrick said, “Exhibition nights offer students the opportunity to drive their own learning experiences, while demonstrating mastery of learning targets to their peers, families and communities. Exhibitions are authentic, connected to a student’s interests and passions, and tied to their personalized learning goals.”

This webinar is free to attend — participants are invited to register here for final details and login information.

Online Resource Keeper?

Hi Christopher and everyone,

Hoping we can do some distributed cognition in action and help my memory LOL…

In a previous week someone had mentioned a resource (whether online or software I’m not sure) their staff used to coordinate all their resources, lesson plans, reflections, etc. that they had implemented the previous year so that they had access to them for the current year and future planning. I believe I had commented about how awesome that sounded and saved the resource name for later use but I can’t find it anywhere nor even remember the name. Can anyone help me recall these details??

Thanks in advance!

Jan

Missing Reading

Hey team,

I am having trouble accessing this reading:

  • Carraher, T. N., Carraher, D. W., & Schliemann, A. D. (1985). Mathematics in the streets and in schools. British journal of developmental psychology, 3(1), 21-29. Available in Course Readings.

It is not in our course readings, the zip folder for module C, or the UBC library. Our login does not work for Wiley online. Does anyone have a link to this PDF?

Thanks 🙂

Trish

Weekly Goals?

Hi, has anyone been able to find the weekly goals referenced in the Overview of Module B? I’ve been marching on ahead without them but… do they exist? And if so, could someone direct me to them?

For those wondering, what I’m referring to is the following statement in Overview: “In the Course Information, Assignments, Assignments 2 option, you will find a suggested sequence of weekly goals (suggested targets) for completing the TELE design option beginning in this module.

Thanks,

Scott
