Interview – too much personal information

This is from one of your colleagues…if this pertains to you…please go back to your Interview post and take out or change names of individuals and schools etc.

Hey all,

I hope I don’t come across to nitpicky or “by the book” here! The consent form that we had our interviewees sign prior to our interviews stated “your name will not be identified… any text records will not identify your name or your work place (name of school, or other identifiers such as the name of the school district, address of organization, etc.)”

I feel like I know some of your interviewees quite intimately, now! Name, school, position, etc. TO me this is great because I love being able to dig deep into one’s experiences and see what I can learn, but it’s something I noticed and wanted to share since this form was signed off on. Might only take a quick edit to fix up!

Broken Link in CiteULike?

Hey all, maybe this is a long shot but…

Has anyone happened to find a working link for the article “Technology can make possible the use of authentic learning activities in the classroom“? I can’t seem to access it from CiteULike!

The link – http://copland.udel.edu/~jconway/authlrn.htm – apparently no longer exists.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Scott

Cite U Like links inactive?

Anyone else having issues accessing articles from the CiteULike folders? So far I’ve found one of the articles of interest from Folder 2 and all four of the articles of interest I tried to open from Folder 3 returning various errors, from saying access is forbidden to the page isn’t found to bringing me to the organizations homepage with no record of the article in question.  So far every article of interest I’ve clicked on from Folder 7, regardless of the Full Text link option I choose, is bringing me to a periodical service provider and suggesting I purchase the article to view more than the abstract and a couple pages.

Chris, is this the expectation for these resources or is there a trick to accessing this data that I just don’t know?

Chrome Getting Huffy About PDFs Anyone?

Hi all,

I’m working primarily from my Mac and generally prefer Chrome over the native Safari browser for course stuff, but I’ve found lately that when I attempt to open things (like PDF files of course readings, for example) I will more often than not get a black screen instead of anything to read. Then I have to copy the URL into Safari before I can read anything.  It’s definitely a first world problem LOL but annoying nonetheless.

Anyone else experiencing these issues and (more importantly) might know a way to fix the problem?

Thanks if you can help!

ETEC533 Course Outline – Google Doc

Hello again!

Every time I take a course I try to wrap my head around it and organize my thoughts using a single Google Doc. I place a little calendar in there, make a note of important dates, copy the syllabus, etc… all in an effort to have all “key” info for the course in one easily-accessible place. This helps me plan for the week with the added plus of being sure I’m not missing important dates, since I can access the info from anywhere (e.g. Docs on my Android)!

Without further ado, I made the doc and thought, “Hey, maybe this will help others”. So, here it is. Enjoy:

It’s a copy of my stuff so edit and comment to your heart’s content!

Matching Readings with Weekly Lessons

Sorry for blowing up the café here but it’s early days and I’m trying to wrap my head around the large number of different parts this course has. Please bear with me – or choose to ignore me!

Question: Is there any way of knowing which of the readings are matched with specific lessons? For example, knowing the assigned readings for lesson 1.2? This info would help me better manage my time as well as make relevant/informed posts.

Perhaps others are thinking the same. If not, could you tell me your strategy? 😀

All the best,

Scott

Subscribing to Posts/Comments

Hello again, this one’s aimed at those who are a little more WordPress savvy than myself:

Is there any way to subscribe to posts/comments in WordPress?

I find it can take some time to find my way around the WordPress blog… at least something like an email update might help me from feeling constantly out-of-the-loop.

Thanks and enjoy your Saturday!
