About Me

Hello World!

My name is Stephanie Grondin and Welcome to my ePortfolio! I’m currently a Master of Community and Regional Planning candidate at UBC, working my way towards my dream of becoming an urban planner. I am born and raised in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and I’m lucky to call this beautiful province of British Columbia home.

In this blog you will find projects, labs, and assignments from my coursework in my undergrad and grad at UBC, as well as my certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from BCIT. I have various interests in urban planning, including urban design, transportation planning, environmental issues, and disaster and resilience planning. I’ll have to see where my studies and internships take me over the course of the next couple years of my Master’s to see if I can refine my interests!

English is my first language, but I also completed 12 years of French Immersion and earned the Diplôme de fin d’études secondaires en Colombie-Britannique in addition to the BC Dogwood Diploma upon graduating from Secondary School in 2015.

During my undergrad at UBC, I went into the UBC Arts Co op Program (best decision of my undergrad), and landed my first co-op job was with Transport Canada (TC) as a Human Resources Administrative Assistant. I moved around TC a bit afterwards to land my third co-op within Programs, in which they hired me on after I graduated from UBC as an Environmental Advisor. In my environmental role, I got to conduct environmental assessments on projects undergoing review under the Impact Assessment Act (2019) and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012, as well as handle environmental protection files.

Outside of school and work, I enjoy to get out and get moving! I danced for 10 years before moving onto yoga and running. I enjoy living in beautiful Vancouver, and I try to take advantage of the beauty by going for hikes with friends and venturing down to the ocean shore whenever possible. But sometimes there’s nothing like a cozy night in, watching movies, hockey (go Canucks go!) or the Amazing Race Canada, while I crochet blankets and other knickknacks.
