Applied Science – Laia Shpeller (She/Her)
Laia serves as the Chair of the Academic Building Needs Committee, and as a Senator on the Nominating Committee. She also serves as Co-Chair of our 2022/23 Student Senate Caucus.
Arts – Emmanuel Cantiller (He/Him)
Emmanuel serves on the Appeals on Academic Standing, Appeals on Academic Discipline, and Teaching and Learning Committees. He is a fourth-year Co-op student majoring in Political Science, who has also worked as a TA and with the Arts Undergraduate Society (AUS)!
Commerce and Business Administration – Melina Amirsharafi (She/Her)
Melina serves on the Academic Policy and Research and Scholarship Committees. She is also a research assistant at the department of marketing in Sauder, as well as Co-Chair of a CUS club named “The Executive Mentorship Program”!
Dentistry – Alex Mitchell
Alex serves on the Library Committee.
Education – Holly Patraschuk (She/Her)
Holly serves on the Academic Building Needs and Curriculum Committees. As a part of her Bachelors in Education Program, she is a part of the inaugural Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization cohort stream.
Forestry – Xiutong Tony Jiang (He/Him)
Tony serves on the Awards and Curriculum Committees. He is in his third year of Urban Forestry studies, and is active in the Forestry Undergraduate Society as well as many other clubs on campus!
Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies – Jorden Hendry & Sam Kenston (He/Him)
Jorden serves on the Teaching and Learning, Nominating, and Research and Scholarship Committees.
Sam serves on the Admissions Committee. He is also President of the UBC Graduate Students Society (GSS), while pursuing a PhD in Public Health!
Land and Food Systems – Vivian Li (She/Her)
Vivian serves on the Curriculum and Library Committees. She is in her fifth year pursuing a degree in Food, Nutrition, and Health, majoring in Nutritional Sciences. Aside from Senate, she is a part of the planning team for the Student Leadership Conference (SLC) and is in a WorkLearn position in LFS Student Services!
Allard School of Law – Ryan Sissons (He/Him)
Ryan serves on the Appeals on Academic Standing, Appeals on Academic Discipline, and Elections Committees. He is in his second year at Allard, serving additionally as a member of the Law Students Society (LSS) and as the President and Founder of the LSS Social Welfare Law and Policy Society!
Medicine – Bachviet Nguyen (He/Him)
Bach serves on the Admissions and Library Committees. He is in his second year of medicine, additionally conducting pediatric gastroenterology research at BC Children’s Hospital.
Pharmaceutical Sciences – Kanika Khosla
Kanika serves on the Appeals on Academic Standing, Awards, and Tributes Committees.
Science – Keanna Yu (She/Her)
Keanna serves on the Agenda, Appeals on Academic Discipline, and Curriculum Committees. Aside from Senate, she is on an engineering design team, co-President of UBC Taekwondo, a video editor for the Science Undergraduate Society (SUS), and works as a Residence Advisor, a Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry, and volunteers in a lab under Dr. Emily Cranston!

Eshana serves as the Chair of the Budget Committee, a Senator on the Academic Policy Committee, and as Vice-Chair of the Senate. She is also the current President of the UBC Alma Mater Society.
Romina Hajizadeh – Faculty of Arts (She/Her)
Romina serves on the Agenda, Budget, and Research and Scholarship Committees. She is in her third year, studying International Relations and Middle East Studies. Outside of Senate, she is also an Equity and Inclusion Lead at the UBC AMS, and holds a WorkLearn position at the UBC Alumni Centre!
Kamil Kanji – Faculty of Arts (He/Him)
Kamil serves on the Appeals on Academic Standing and Library Committees. He is in his third year of Honours Political Science with International Relations, and works in the AMS President’s Office as the Strategy and Governance Lead. He is also the President of the Rotaract Club of Vancouver-UBC, and is a Development and Alumni Engagement Ambassador with the University.
