Three potential locations were found to build the mall on. They were named Mall 1, Mall 2 and Mall 3. From our network analysis we found that it would take 10 minutes to travel by car to Mall 2 from Surrey Central Station. It would take 13.5 and 24 minutes to travel to Mall 3 and Mall 1 respectively from Surrey Central Station. Hence it would take the shortest amount of time to travel to Mall 2. The reason a network analysis was chosen was to incorporate the time it would take potential customers to reach the mall and the skytrain was chosen at the starting point because it has many transit connections.

From our income analysis map, it can be seen that Mall 3’s location is surrounded by higher income neighbourhoods (within the $109,381 – $138,459 income category – the highest income category). Mall 1 location had the second highest income neighbourhood in its surrounding ($91,990-$109,380 income category) while Mall 2 had a mix of relatively high ($91,990 – $109,380) and median income ($60,596 – $76,325 income range) neighbourhoods.

From our Surrey Plots division map, it can be seen that Mall location 3 had 7 parcels of land that developers would need to buy off. Mall 1 location involves 2 plots of land while Mall 2 was just one plot on its own.

The Network Analysis method, contributed in determining which one out of the three potential mall locations would be the best place to develop from the skytrain taking into consideration: income of surrounding neighbourhood and number of parcels of land developers have to buy off.
