Our goal is to find an area(s) in Surrey that has the potential to be built into the next biggest mall in British Columbia. Metrotown  is a mall with 3 levels and for this project we will be doing our analysis based on the idea that this new mall will have 4-5+ levels to give it more characteristic. We will be looking at empty lots or non-reserved agricultural land that would allow for this development.

Since Metrotown is 166,816 m(1,795,591 sqft) over 3 floors, if we were to build a mall that has at least 4 floors, one more than Metrotown, we would need a minimum of 41,704 m2 of land space to develop on.

The chosen mall location will be based on:

  1. Income of residential areas neighbouring the mall (the higher the income the better)
  2. Land parcel plots that cover the mall area (the lower the number of parcels the better)
  3. The shortest time from the Surrey Central skytrain station to one of the three potential mall locations (the shortest time is better)
