The road to Fuel Cell Vehicle production by 2015

Significant growth and developments have been taking place in the fuel cell automotive world. Today there are 8 major automotive OEMs that have announced the production of fuel cell vehicles some as early as 2015.

Craig’s talk will discuss the technical and commercial developments in the industry and why hydrogen fuel cells are an indispensable element of the mainstream automotive industry. He will also discuss the technical challenges that need to be solved to get there.

With Vancouver having been selected by Mercedes-Benz’s for their first fuel cell manufacturing plant, we have an exciting opportunity to continue to expand our global leadership position in hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Numerous
research opportunities exist in the areas of fuel cell stack, hydrogen tank and hydrogen production and distribution.

BIO
Craig Louie is Chief Strategy Officer for the Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation  (AFCC) (The Fuel Cell Development Center for Daimler and Ford located in Burnaby BC) and is responsible for the company’s corporate strategy and external affairs activities. Mr. Louie has worked in the fuel cell field for two decades, including Ballard Power Systems where he worked with both stationary and automotive applications. Mr. Louie holds a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia, and is a Professional Engineer.
