The Terry Global Speaker Series Presents Bill McKibben

Wednesday, November 16th at 12:30 at the Chan Center

Bill McKibben is an environmentalist, author, and activist. Hailed “the world’s best green journalist” by Time magazine, McKibben has re-framed the climate change debate. He is the author of a dozen books about the environment, including his seminal The End of Nature (1989), widely regarded as the first book on climate change for a general audience.
Bill McKibben will be speaking at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia. Tickets will be available in the Chan Centre box office and free to all UBC students, staff, and faculty. Stay tuned to terry.ubc.ca for updates.

Sustainability Learning 101 Advising Session: Monday, October 31st 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at the Sustainablity Education Resource Center (room 1131) CIRS (2260 West Mall)

The Sustainability Education Resource Centre is a place to learn how to incorporate sustainability through leadership and volunteer opportunities. UBC offers numerous sustainability-oriented courses and programs to both undergraduate and graduate students. A Student Advisor helps and guides students to construct their own sustainability pathways by providing curricular and co-curricular opportunities available at UBC. This event is open to the public. An evening with David Suzuki

Join Dr. David Suzuki, distinguished Canadian environmentalist and UBC Professor Emeritus, for a public lecture called The Global Eco-crisis: Is it too late?   In this engaging 60-minute lecture, Dr. Suzuki offers his insights on the state of the environment and whether there is hope for the future. After the lecture, Dr. Suzuki will sign copies of his books in the atrium of the Chan Centre.

Dr. Suzuki’s lecture will take place at 7:30 pm on November 3 at The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.

Tickets are $5 and available at the Chan Centre Box Office or Ticketmaster.
