A shared interest in environmental and social issues was what brought our group together. As Mumbai is projected to be the most populated city in the world in the near future, we felt it was important to develop a case study about existing sanitation issues, particularly within the city’s informal settlements, and to examine how these issues are mitigated by residents, NGOs, and government.
