This Thursday, local-media, businessman and a few selected individuals passed through the glass doors of the new Apple store at Hong Kong’s upscale IFC Mall. The two-story store is the first in the city and has yet to open its doors to the public on Saturday. Camping outside a store for two days in order to secure a spot in line might seem like a ridiculous idea! But many residents in Hong Kong were eagerly awaiting the the first Apple store to open in their home town.

Reading this was kind of an surprise to me since I had always expected there would be at least a couple Apple stores already in Hong Kong, one of the most prosperous cities in Asia. Apple should have targeted its customers in Asia long time ago and the chance that they would completely “lose” would be pretty low since they have had such a stable market in the world.
