“You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”
Clay P. Bedford
As a teacher, I believe it is important to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. By developing excellent student-teacher relationships, communicating high expectations, and providing positive feedback, I strive to establish a classroom climate where students feel valued and respected as members of a learning community. I recognize the importance of creating a welcoming environment for parent/guardians and achieve this by communicating in a friendly, positive manner. Working together with parent/guardians to support students will allow them to fulfill their potential and achieve positive academic, social and emotional outcomes.
I believe that effective teachers recognize and build upon the diverse knowledge and skills students bring into the classroom. Not all students are the same and it is the responsibility of the teacher to provide differentiated instruction to help all students succeed. At the same time, teachers can build on the interests of students through inquiry which provides meaningful opportunities for learning. Creating lessons and opportunities for relevant learning allows students to be engaged and motivated which in turn enhances learning success.
I recognize the high standards teachers are held ethically and professionally. I understand teachers are role models and I am committed to being a respectful and caring example. As an educator,I hope to instill in my students a love of learning that will help them become lifelong learners. I aim to demonstrate this personally by continuing to grow professionally through reflection, research and experience.
