Laura Numeroff Author Study

This was a Laura Numeroff inspired pocket chart story I had created about beavers (in relation to our Canadian symbols unit). Can you guess what the beaver wanted all those things for? The students got it right away!

-In this unit we are exploring if…then sequences (cause and effect -example: If you give a mouse a cookie then he is going to ask for a glass of milk). Together as a class we created pocket chart stories based around a similar layout as the Laura Numeroff stories and they have just started creating our own pocket chart stories. -The students asked me on a daily basis when we are reading another story from her and they are the first books taken off the shelves during reading time. It is so immensely satisfying to see them so engaged with the unit. I created Laura Numeroff Stations that really emphasized the skills we used within the unit. Most of the materials I collected for the stations I found online and was so incredibly grateful for!

This isn’t the best quality picture but I jut wanted to show a station from our Laura Numeroff Author Study Stations. This is a puzzle station where students match the uppercase/lowercase/pictures. The students loved the challenge of the big puzzle and really wanted me to take a picture when they completed it!
