I&#8217;m a strong proponent of teaching students to use <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/teachingamongtrees\/2018\/09\/21\/ive-been-studying-all-wrong\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"145\">effective learning strategies<\/a>, especially <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/teachingamongtrees\/2018\/09\/21\/how-i-should-have-studied-part-1-retrieval-practice\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"174\">retrieval practice<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/teachingamongtrees\/2018\/09\/21\/how-i-should-have-studied-part-2-distributed-spaced-practice\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"149\">distributed practice<\/a>. I give a talk on the topic, often as a guest lecture. About a year ago, I recorded a video version of this talk, aimed at students.
