Because of public complaints, the letter was removed from the newspaper&#8217;s website.<\/del><\/p>\n<p><del>It was only 12,000 years ago, or less and this would be considered; in all those years the so-called<\/del> <strong>First Nations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><del>Never &#8220;discovered&#8221; the wheel<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Never had<\/del> <strong>a<\/strong> <del>written<\/del> <strong>language<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><del>Never discovered astronomy<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Had no science or scientific<\/del> <strong>discovery<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><del>Had no mathematics<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Made no medical discoveries<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Never had written<\/del> <strong>music.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><del>Only &#8220;figured out&#8221; a<\/del> <strong>drum<\/strong> <del>and a<\/del><strong> rattle<\/strong> <del>for musical instruments<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Had no metallurgy<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Had no sails for boats (only had<\/del> <strong>canoes.<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<li><del>Created virtually no mechanical devices<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Possessed almost nothing that required hard manual labour over a period of time, i.e: building with or carving out of stone<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Made almost no inventions<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Are just in the last 200 years getting caught-up to most of<\/del> <strong>the rest of the world<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Have a history<\/strong> <del>that is notable only<\/del> <strong>for<\/strong> <del>underachievement<\/del><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><del>Are these people in<\/del> <strong>trouble<\/strong><del>? Yes.<\/del><\/p>\n<p><del>Do<\/del> <strong>they need help.<\/strong><del>? Yes.<\/del><\/p>\n<p><del>Are they responsible enough to look after themselves and efficiently spend the billions the tax payers are giving them? Certainly not.<\/del><\/p>\n<p><del>The only way to fix this situation is to bring them into society as equals. They should be getting jobs and paying taxes like the rest of us because in reality, they are no more special than any of the hundred or more other cultures that call Canada home.<\/del><\/p>\n<p><del>Turn off the taps. <\/del><strong>Do away with<\/strong><del> this &#8220;traditional use&#8221; and &#8220;cultural&#8221; <\/del><strong>nonsense<\/strong>. <del>Educate their children<\/del> <del>to become modern citizens<\/del><\/p>\n<p><del>Instead of <\/del><strong>find<\/strong><del>ing their <\/del><strong>identity<\/strong> <strong> and<\/strong><del> source of <\/del><strong>pride<\/strong><del> in some folks who occupied the land 15,000 years ago. <\/del><strong>Let them stand<\/strong><del> or fall on their own account. <\/del><\/p>\n<p><del>Just like the rest of us have to.<\/del><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Below is a racist letter written to the editor of a BC newspaper.
