Week 3 Memo
Weekly Objectives
-
Complete the PCB design to be sent out for fabrication
-
Work on and refine labview block diagram to provide desired outputs for our project
-
Work on hardware, to be done: Peak detectors, amplifiers, crystal ladder oscillators.
-
Complete solidworks design for a circuit enclosure to reduce noise in our system.
Challenges
-
No group members are familiar with any PCB design software so more time than allocated was required to complete our PCB design.
-
Simple peak detector does not give us a desired output, more research is needed to create accurate peak detection circuits.
Next Week Itinerary
-
Complete hardware and software to begin testing phase
-
Get enclosure cut, fastened and powder coated in the machine shop.
-
Consider extra functionality and begin work on powerpoint presentation and report.
Summary
In the Third week of the second rotation of EECE 380 our custom spectrum analyzer is going as well as we can hope for. Progress is being made on the hardware and software and we hope to begin preliminary testing next week. Our enclosure has been designed on solidworks and will be fabricated next week. Our PCB design has been sent to Canadian Circuits, a company in surrey, we are awaiting a quote for our design and hope to receive it next week.
