I bet you saw the Toms Shoes, but did you know them?

“With every pairs you purchase,

Toms will give a pair of new shoes to

a Child in needs, one for one.”

That comment is the title of the website of TOMS SHOES Canada. Their motto is that if you purchase TOMS shoes, you are joining the socially responsible volunteering.

Actually, Shopping is one of the most selfish or egocentric actions among what normal people regularly. Even if you buy something for others, shopping is totally related your stand and it is meaningful to yourself.

But, I think TOMS marketing concept, ‘sharing’ is changing the paradigm of “what is shopping.” Because you can buy your shoes as well as help others in need.

They are starting a new business, selling Glasses. And their another project is going on.

Imagine what you can do if you buy new glasses. TOMS can do and you can do too.

Celebrate the history with local chocolate company Roger!

There is nothing more than a chocolate

One of oldest companies in Canada. Rogers’ Chocolates.

HISTORY

—Rogers’ Chocolates is steeped in tradition and a rich history that has earned us our reputation as one of Canada’s premiere chocolate makers.—

The first Rogers’ chocolates were made in 1885 by Charles “Candy” Rogers in the back of his grocery store in Victoria, B.C.  In 1891, Rogers expanded his chocolate operation to the company’s current heritage storefront on Government Street in Victoria and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today,  8 retail stores, several hundred wholesale outlets ship to over 50 countries, and a 20,000 square-foot factory is doing their business.

Their mission is to enrich people’s lives by creating cherished memories – one chocolate at a time!

The trend now is changing, I think, many people think about their well-being lives. Chocolate, the most popular dessert in the world is to change and follow the trend of customers. They must be clean, contain some components good for health.

Even though larger chocolat manufacturers were seeking a redefinition of the term ” chocolate” under USFDA guidelines, so that they could produce cheaper versions of the product and still call it chocolate. However, with those efforts, social trend for healthier diets, the demand for organic products, including organic chocolates is growing. I bet, in a long term view, premium and local chocolate company survive in the future.

As part of the marketing, they should not miss the social responsibility practices. Environmental concerns, which were very strong in Canda, must be kept up with the people interests. Also Human right issue in African countries where raw chocolates are produced, must be supported in the marketing strategies.
