Considering the Theoretical Framework
The interrelationship between mind, brain, cognition, emotions, physiology, and behaviour and their corresponding mental and physical attributes is complex and not completely understood. However, most researchers agree that interacting with technology affects humans. The way these changes are theorized, researched, discussed, and reported reflects the researcher’s theoretical outlook. And so, while there is considerable overlap in the conclusions reached by various professionals in the field, there is no consensus of opinion.
It is impossible to represent the entire field of psychology in this blog. To aid our discussion, however, three broad psychological frameworks are presented. Each theoretical framework is illustrated by the work a particular theorist or author.
- Mind Theories – Psychoanalysis, Phenomenology
- Brain Theories – Neuroplasticity
- Cognitive-Behaviour Theories – Choice Theory
