Every device you use has a form and shape conceived, designed, and tested in an engineering process. From medical implants, to aircraft, from greenhouses to cell phones, mechanical engineering design is everywhere you look.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><em>Applying Physics to Everyday Living<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Defined in a sentence: a mechanical engineer is someone who uses physics to help them analyze, design, manufacture and maintain mechanical systems.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Which begs the question &#8211; what is a mechanical system? Simply put, it is any physical system that transmits or modifies energy. Common mechanical systems you may find around your home include your bicycle, your plumbing, your car (including the power steering and other mechatronics systems), your refrigerator, your washing machine, and even your grandmother&#8217;s hip replacement.<\/p>\n<div>\n<hr \/>\n<div><em> <strong>Biomedical:<\/strong> mechanical engineering applied to human systems<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/div>\n<p><em> <strong>Mechatronics:<\/strong> mechanical systems with embedded electronics and computer controls<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <strong>Thermofluids: <\/strong>anything to do with heat and fluids, including aero- and hydrodynamics, clean energy, acoustics, and combustion<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every moment of every day, our lives are impacted by engineering.
