The Printmaking Process
Materials:
Speedball ink (or any other non-toxic, water soluble ink)
Plexiglass sheets
3-4 inch rubber brayer
Small squares of Styrofoam
Instructions:
Have students create the prints by using pencils or pens to
engrave their drawings into the Styrofoam sheets. Be sure
to tell students to press hard so there is a nice level of
relief in the print.
Show students how to use very small amounts of ink on
the plexiglass and roll it evenly with the brayer.
Demonstrate how to lightly coat the print they made with
ink and transfer to a piece of paper.
Remember to encourage colour mixing!
Students can reuse their prints over and over!
