Free Mcdonalds Coffee

Salutations to all,

As several people may have noticed, Mcdonald’s restaurant chain often runs a “free coffee” campaign to attract new customers to come try out their products (the food and beverages).  Along with attracting new customers, this promotion also shows appreciation for current and loyal customers by giving back to them and making they happy.  The question is, however, is it financially worth it to run these kinds of campaigns?

Mcdonalds pulls in unimaginable amounts of revenue everyday, but does the extra revenue earned from the promotion actually outweigh the cost of all the free coffee given away?  Extra revenue from the promotion can come from a number of different areas.  The first being brand new customers that come into the store for free coffee and end up coming back sometime to get some coffee or some food because they were impressed with the coffee they had received before.  The second source of income could come from people who come into a restaurant for the coffee and end up making an impulse decision to buy some additional products as well such as a hamburger or a muffin.  The third source is loyal customers that come even more often to get free coffee and purchase food as well.  The fourth and final source is also from loyal customers who may appreciate the free coffee so much they may feel they should support the company more and spend more money.  All these situations are sources of positive revenue for Mcdonalds, but are they enough to cover the costs of the coffee being given away to actually make it all worth it?   Mcdonalds must figure it is worth it because otherwise they would not be running this promotion.  Does this work for all companies?  NO!  A Ferrari dealership cannot give away free Ferraris for a week and then expect the customers to come back the next week to buy one because they enjoyed their Ferrari so much.  It appears these promotions are only useful with inexpensive, short-lived products such as food and beverages.  This will Attract the consumers to back next time.

The NEOCUBE!

Salutations to all,

Watch this video on the Neocube: Video.

The Neocube is a very peculiar new toy that has taken Youtube by storm.  The neocube is essentially a very simple concept, that is engineered in such a way that makes it ever-so-complex. The small cube is composed of 216 powerfully magnetic spheres that are easily movable, removable, and constructable.  By utilizing the online marketing goldmine (Youtube) the Neocube is able to advertise and promote for very little cost to a very large audience.  Myself for instance has never ever seen a Neocube, and have only ever heard of it through Youtube, and now i really want a Neocube of my own. Just a prime example of online marketing at work.

Ski Season With Tessa Der

Salutations to all,

Super Cool Ski Video 1

Super Cool Ski Video 2

I was reading my classmates blogs earlier when I came across an extremely interesting, thought-provoking, and creative post by Tessa Der.  Her blog can be found here. Tessa, being the awesome skier that she is, wrote a delicious blog about she is excited that October has been cold, and that it means that the snow will be good this year.  Genius.  If anyone ever has the opportunity to have a conversation with Tessa Der, the best advice I can give you is to DIVE into that conversation like you haven’t talked to people in 5 years.  Her stories are riveting, her knowledge is impeccable, and her speech is captivating.  I had NO IDEA winter was on the way until I came across Tessa’s fabulous blog and enlightened myself.  I also learned she is excited for it.  Awesome, because now I am excited as well.  Thank you Tessa.  I’ve also sent out Tessa’s blog to several  high class magazines and newspapers in order to get it published.  No replies yet…  ANYWAYS there is an attached picture of super excited Tessa (presumably during the winter, and presumably about to go skiing in the cold weather).  I just wanted to share her post with a larger audience because I think it deserves recognition and respect.   Genius such as that is a seldom and should be treasured.  Also attached is Tessa in Taiwan or something.. who knows right?

Jagerbomb advertising

Salutations to all,

As everyone should know by now, a Jagerbomb is a popular drink that is prepared by dropping a shot of Jagermeister into a glass of Redbull.  It has been medically proven that this isn’t a safe combination as alcohol is a depressant while energy drinks are stimulants.  This creates plenty of stress on the heart and risk actually stopping the heart.  The question is,  is it immoral or should it be illegal to advertise such a drink.  Should bars, pubs, and clubs be allowed to sell it? It’s similar to advertising cigarette advertisements, but the difference is that cigarettes aren’t an immediate threat to ones health.  Cigarettes are just extremely unhealthy and have horrible long term consequences.  Jagerbombs, on the other hand are an immediate threat to ones health because if the wrong dose is consumed (too much) then serious heart problems could occur right that night. Personally, I don’t these advertisements should be allowed because it causes a false sense that these drinks are less dangerous.  Subsequently, I certainly don’t think bars, pubs, or clubs should be allowed to even sell energy drinks if they are also serving alcohol, let alone offer a drink that contains both.
