For my two week practicum I attended Mount Boucherie Secondary School in West Kelowna B.C.
I had a great experience and I learned about about the inner working of a school system. I became familiar with some of the politics surrounding the admin, the marking systems, and the student information board.
For my 10 week practicum I will be teaching Woodworking 10, Drafting and Design 11/12, and Mid-Evil Metal Working! Very Exciting!!
During my time spent at the school I met a lot of new students and taught a few lessons. Some of the lesson I taught were the BC Building codes and and certain processes in Woodworking. My lessons went well and I received nothing but positive feedback from my host teachers.
I was very nervous going into the school, but I am pleased to say that after the first week, I was assured that his was truly something I an do for the rest of my life; I know i will love my job.
Some of the things that I noticed while on my practicum that shocked me is the lack of enthusiasm towards assignments in the classroom. I have noticed that many students simply just lack motivation. I have pondered as to why this may be, is it the projects? or is it the students? can you say Inquiry question? YESS
Till my next blog,
