About Me

Toby NG

Toby is a Kinesiology graduate from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and in the process of completing a Master degree in High Performance Coaching & Technical Leadership at UBC. Additionally, he is the Performance Lead for Badminton British Columbia.

After more than a decade on the Canadian national team, Toby has retired from international competition after the 2018 World Championships this summer to focus on completing his Master degree while performing his regular duties for Badminton BC.

Also a part-time coach at ClearOne Badminton, Toby offers private lessons on a very limited schedule. He recently received a Graduate Certificate in High Performance Coaching and also a Chartered Professional Coaching designation from the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) of Canada.

Some short term goals include completing a Certificate in Business from Smith School of Business (Queen’s University) courtesy of a partnership with Game Plan, an athlete wellness program. Additionally, Toby hopes to develop further skills in data analytics while pursuing opportunities to build experience in coaching and business consulting.

Long term pursuits include furthering his business knowledge, coaching high performance athletes, and incorporating machine learning into his skill sets.
