Resource Description

.

GoNoodle is an incredible, user-friendly, and free tool that connects Daily Physical Activity (DPA) to a broad spectrum of other curricular areas through engaging videos. It also allows teachers to offer students a quick and meaningful movement break to prevent restlessness and promote focus. With minimal preparation, teachers can engage students in physical activity almost anywhere using GoNoodle.

As the science states, physical activity is beneficial for students in many ways. It promotes concentration, increases blood flow, reduces fidgeting behaviours, and much more. With GoNoodle, students get the opportunity to actively participate in their learning, mentally and physically.

Teachers can search for videos that accommodate their students’ levels of physical literacy and that correspond with desired curricular areas. Simple, easy to follow videos are available for younger grade-levels and videos featuring more complex movement skills are available for use with older students.

This tool can be used as a transformative learning resource as it allows students to learn certain concepts through movement in multimodal ways, developing multiple literacies. Instead of working through stationary activities, students can engage in kinesthetic learning with GoNoodle. These types of activities, during which students take a break to participate in an energy-boosting exercise, also benefit the brain by helping to increase information retention.
