Resource Description
NGAkids Interactives provides educational, informative, and entertaining interactive activities that introduce art and art history to students of all ages. Through this platform, The National Gallery of Art has provided a variety of art-making tools that encourage the creativity and exploration of children through online activities.
This online tool is fantastic for transformative learning as it transforms the perspectives of students on visual arts. Rather than drawing on paper or creating sculptures without much motivation, NGAkids Interactives has tons of art-inspiring tools students can work with to express themselves and their creativity. From animation to collages and photo ops, students can work with a wide range of mediums while getting the opportunity to experiment with them beyond the classroom or art studio. Students can even create 3D models and artworks in the style of some of their favourite artists.
The tools provided by this platform are free to use on a computer or laptop. There are also free CDs available for order. For the iPad, an app called NGAkids is available for download. The NGA also has an Art Zone that is available for download on Mac OS and Windows. Both download links are available on the website.
