I am a 4th Year Bachelor of Computer Science student who is in my final semester at UBC. My previous degree was in Philosophy where I developed an interest in logic philosophy as well as the theory of computing. Some of specific interests include Turing machines, complexity classes and quantum computers. I also have an interest in how developments in technology, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, have an effect on society. As I hope my career will allow me to talk and write about technology, I\u2019m looking forward to how this class can improve my technical communication skills.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m currently in the process of looking for a tech job (so if anybody knows of anything let me know), but I do currently have a part-time\/summer job as a groundskeeper at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club. It\u2019s a rather beautiful place and on the nice days it\u2019s quite wonderful to mow the lawns while listening to audio-books and looking at the beautiful views. I am also developing a virtual reality video game based on my job which I call Golf Course Manager VR. If you ever want to give it a try, just let me know.<\/span><\/p>\n I\u2019m also a member of the UBC Debate Team, and have participated in a number of competitive debate tournaments across North America. I have found that this club has greatly improved my communication and critical thinking skills. If anyone is interested in joining a new club at UBC it\u2019s one that I definitely highly recommend. I also play seeker for the UBC Quidditch team, just because it\u2019s fun to catch snitches every now and again. <\/span><\/p>\n I\u2019m very much looking forward to taking the course, especially because it is very relevant to my life as I am hopefully just about to start my career.
