Students will begin our  class-wide novel study on the true story “A Stranger at Home” written by Christy Jordan-Fenton and Margaret Pokiak-Fenton.  This is the sequel to “fatty legs”. The reading strategies we are going to be using in this novel study include: connecting, visualizing, questioning, inferring, and transforming.  This week we will read chapters 3 and 4.  Students are responsible for chapter 3 and 4 questions and work.

Culture

For the next 3 weeks students will be working on their Learning Fair projects.

The Learning Fair May 24th 6:00-8:30pm.

All students should have a folding project board at home that they would have used in the past that they need to bring back to school to reuse for their project this year.  If not, it is the student’s responsibility to go and get a new board.  They are $1.00-$2.00 at the dollar store or the sturdy plastic boards are ~$10.00 at Staples.

Students must have their boards by May 15th so that they can begin putting their projects together.

Students are required to have their Learning Fair notes completed by May 16th.

French

Due to the size and composition of Division 3, we will be receiving remedy time from Ms. Joellen Housego on Monday afternoons.  She will be teaching French on Monday afternoons.  Students have been learning how to read recipes in French and will be using a French recipe to make mini quiches.  Students have  French test on this vocabulary on Monday, May 7th.
