Monday June 18th: Tyee Talent Show in the morning.  This week, Division 3 will be putting together various talent acts to share with our school community. 9:15am-11:45am

Your children have been working hard on poetry this spring! They have been inspired to write and share.

You are invited to our Poetry Café in our classroom and outdoor garden space.

I am hoping that we can have this event outdoors, weather dependent.  The students will be sharing two poems they have written from their poetry booklets that they have created.  Students and families will be encouraged to share some food and mingle to celebrate our time together.

I will have a few snacks to share.  Please feel free to contribute to the celebration of learning!

Poetry

Students will continue working on their poetry booklets this week as well as memorizing the poem they’ve chosen for our Poetry Slam on Tuesday June 26th.

Grade 4s: 4 poems, booklet must include a haiku, a dialogue, an ode, and a free verse poem

Grade 5s: 5 poems, booklet must include a haiku, a dialogue, an ode, and a free verse poem

Grade 6s: 6 poems, booklet must include a haiku, a dialogue, an ode, and a free verse poem

Sketchbook Project

Division 3 and Division 5 have a Student Teacher from UBC working with us for the last few weeks of school. Mika Collins is running a sketchbook workshop and will be focusing her time with us on the joys of drawing and creating work in a sketchbook.

Core Competency Reflection

This week students will be completing a core competency reflection to be included in their student file and report card.
