{"id":2362,"date":"2010-02-03T16:08:09","date_gmt":"2010-02-04T00:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcinsiders\/?p=2362"},"modified":"2010-02-03T16:08:09","modified_gmt":"2010-02-04T00:08:09","slug":"voter-funded-media-results-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcinsiders\/2010\/02\/03\/voter-funded-media-results-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Voter Funded Media Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are the results from continuous VFM thusfar, and from the one-time VFM in interactive graph form!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"overflow: hidden; border: none\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swivel.com\/charts\/10978-Continuous-VFM-2010-Share-Timeseries.embed?secret=&amp;embed=%7B%22fontSize%22%3A%2010%7D\" width=\"420\" height=\"350\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The real winner at the end of the day, I would say, is the gossip rag <a href=\"http:\/\/amsconfidential.wordpress.com\/\">AMS Confidential<\/a>, who managed to create themselves partway through continuous VFM and eventually surpassed the <a href=\"http:\/\/radicalbeer.wordpress.com\/\">Radical Beer Tribune<\/a> in terms of total cash out.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"overflow: hidden; border: none\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swivel.com\/charts\/10981-Continuous-VFM-2010-Cumulative-Cash-Out.embed?secret=&amp;embed=%7B%7D\" width=\"420\" height=\"350\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It remains hard to get a firm grasp over the one-time VFM results, due to the limited information we now have. What we do know, is that on average, students allocated $1334 with their vouchers. This means a high degree of non-participation in one-time VFM, as this number should be at least $2000 if participation were 100%. If the history of one-time tells us anything though, it&#8217;s that results are hard to predict, and the characteristics you&#8217;d expect to be predictors aren&#8217;t that strong.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"overflow: hidden; border: none\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swivel.com\/charts\/10986-One-Time-VFM-2010-Voteshares.embed?secret=&amp;embed=%7B%7D\" width=\"420\" height=\"350\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcinsiders\/2007\/01\/28\/media-on-media\/\">Analysis by Tim<\/a> remains as true today as it did three years ago: there are different niches for the blogs to fill, but at the end of the day, the real benefit of one-time VFM is now the electorate can generally expect better-researched candidates.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve been in talks with the Elections Committee to get more detailed results from the elections, as we beget further analysis.
