Nike’s ‘Just Do It’ Slogan Makes a Lot More Sense Now…

I learned a pretty valuable lesson on Monday night: you’re going to regret what you didn’t do more than what you did do.

Monday evening was ugly as I’m sure you all saw. It was that gross half rain-half snow stuff that doesn’t stick to the ground, it just makes everything messy. On a side note, have you ever noticed that when falling snow doesn’t stick to the ground it looks like ghosts flying through a wall? Well, that’s what I noticed as I stared out the window contemplating not to go. But, because I joined the running group with a friend and she was going, there was no way I could back out (thanks Sandra for unknowingly forcing me to run).

There were quite a few people missing that night and I judged them for it. Not that I’m completely innocent of impure thoughts, but hey, at least I actually made it out. Some of the other women in my group admitted to thinking about being sick that night too. When we left the store to start on our run, the snow had stopped and you could see that the sky was actually clear. It ended up being a really nice night to run. I thought I was prepared by bringing a toque and a heavier jacket, but it was too warm for that.

Although I was incredibly stiff afterwards (I looked like Quasimodo while I walked home), I felt so much better knowing that I didn’t wimp out. Had I not gone, all I would have done that night was sit on the couch, probably watching TV and feel bad about myself for not going on my run. So whenever you’re thinking about wimping out, think about how you’ll feel afterwards. What’s going to make you feel better in the end? Going for that run or whatever it is, or staying at home watching Wheel of Fortune?
