Must…Stay…Awake…

I’m learning the hard way how important it is to do things properly and efficiently. I had a pretty intense swim session last night and I am not a technical swimmer at all. Because of that, my shoulders were incredibly sore. It’s amazing how seemingly small corrections can make a huge difference. I’ve even been watching help videos on YouTube. How did people know how to do things before the internet???

I’m getting back into my routine again. I started my education practicum last week so I’ve been teaching. I’m at the school every day by 7:45am and stay until 4. When I get home, it’s a couple more hours of lesson planning. It’s pretty much a guarantee that I’ll fall asleep on the bus and when I get home I can’t sit down because I know I’ll fall asleep. Case in point: last Wednesday I was supposed to go for a swim, I feel asleep on the couch for four and a half hours. Sunday morning, supposed to go biking, thought to myself “Why is my alarm going off? I don’t have school…”, so I turned it off. This Monday, slept through my running clinic. Spotting a trend?? My training has gone a bit by the wayside. On the bright side: I now have a lot more respect for teachers and how much time they put in.

My calendar is pretty ridiculous right now. Monday: Run, Tuesday: Spin, Wednesday: Swim, Saturday: REC sports, and Sunday: Bike and a full day of more REC sports. I find that having a schedule like this helps me stick to my training (when I’m not drooling on the couch). When I’m actually awake, knowing that certain days are for certain activities is a motivator. If I miss a day, who knows when I’ll be able to fit it in elsewhere in the week?

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to enjoy my Thursday night off.
