A Head-On Approach to Supporting Sauder’s Mental Wellbeing

Nafiza Ali, MA, RCC – Embedded Counsellor, UBC Sauder

Place: David Lam 009, 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm

Students deal with an array of mental health concerns that can be difficult to express to anyone, let alone faculty, staff, and peers. Too often, they reach out for help when it’s potentially too late. In this session, Nafiza will explore the current top presenting concerns, ways to be proactive in the classroom to help set up students for success, and how to provide a community of care approach. The goal of the session is to have an open dialogue about solutions, based on what students are communicating, what is currently working, and strategies being employed by other universities.
