There are a number of strategies and tools that are used for exams.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-17600\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Canvas Exam Integrity Measures<\/h2><div id=\"ac-17600\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Randomization:&nbsp;<\/strong>Randomizing the order of questions can prevent students from collaborating.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Single Question Display:<\/strong>&nbsp;Displaying questions one at a time can discourage students from taking screenshots, downloading, and printing entire exams for sharing elsewhere.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Question Banks:<\/strong>&nbsp;The use of question bank groupings of question types, where Canvas then selects individual questions for individual students, can prevent collaborations on exams.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Timer:<\/strong>&nbsp;Timed exams can ensure that students have enough time to recall responses, but enough time to look up answers or collaborate with each other.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exam Design:<\/strong> Various exam designs can help prevent academic integrity issues in individual circumstances.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Question Types:<\/strong>&nbsp;Create the exam with question types designed for integrity.&nbsp;Instructors should be familiar with what kind of question types are available. Review the <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Student-Guide\/How-do-I-answer-each-type-of-question-in-a-quiz\/ta-p\/474\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">question types and how to answer them.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-17601\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Lockdown Browser<\/h2><div id=\"ac-17601\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lockdown Browser<\/strong> is a web browser that \u201clocks down\u201d what students can do during a quiz in Canvas. When students use LockDown Browser to take a quiz, they will be unable to print or copy questions, visit other websites, access other applications, or close the quiz until it is submitted. Quizzes created for use with LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use LockDown Browser to help preserve academic integrity in Canvas quizzes and exams:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Restricting what students can do in their main browser (e.g., no printing, copying, accessing other websites)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locking down in-person assessments, along with in-person invigilation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locking down online assessments, along with web-conferencing invigilation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharing exam results and feedback with students in a locked-down environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We do not recommend using LockDown Browser with Zoom<\/strong>. The tools were not designed to be used in coordination, and combining them can trigger challenging technical issues for a significant number of students. You can read more about&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/lthub.ubc.ca\/2021\/04\/13\/recommendation-against-zoom-with-lockdown-browser-invigilation\/\" target=\"_blank\">our recommendation against using Zoom with LockDown Browser for invigilation<\/a>&nbsp;for additional information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lockdown Browser does not work well with assessments that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-f28c38b3-c906-4767-94bb-52a9269620c9\">\n<li>are open&nbsp;book<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>require students to upload file(s) or photo(s)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>contain a lot of images &#8211; if an image breaks, there is no way for students to right-click to open the image in a new tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>require Excel and the use of formulas &#8211; Lockdown Browser&#8217;s version of Excel has limited capabilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(source: <a href=\"https:\/\/lthub.ubc.ca\/guides\/lockdown-browser-instructor-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/lthub.ubc.ca\/guides\/lockdown-browser-instructor-guide\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-17602\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Turnitin<\/h2><div id=\"ac-17602\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Turnitin<\/strong>&nbsp;is a plagiarism prevention tool that helps you check the originality of student writing. Turnitin generates a similarity score for each student, which can be used to assess how original their work is. You can also use Turnitin to provide marks and detailed feedback for each student and re-use common feedback across multiple student submissions. Students may use it to check their work to avoid accidental plagiarism before submission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sauder Learning Services has modified Turnitin software that turns each student\u2019s response into a PDF. A folder containing all students&#8217; PDFs will be provided to the instructor for uploading to Turnitin.&nbsp;In this way, instructors may use such a folder to check for submission similarities between students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/?p=1913&amp;preview=true\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/?p=1913&amp;preview=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turnitin &#8211; Information for Instructors<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-17603\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Integrity Pledge<\/h2><div id=\"ac-17603\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learning Services will copy an Integrity Pledge into a course several days before the actual exam date (if not earlier). There is also a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/92104\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/92104\" target=\"_blank\">Tech Check course <\/a>available for students to self-enroll. This tech check course is intended to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Familiarize students with the \u201cexam experience\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help students identify any technical issues that may arise during their actual exam<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask students to agree to the following integrity pledge:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/sauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2021\/08\/Integrity-pledge-quiz-2-1024x508.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2363\" style=\"width:512px;height:254px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learning Services also adds a&nbsp;<strong>shorter integrity pledge<\/strong>&nbsp;to the beginning of each exam:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/sauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2021\/08\/Integrity-pledge-exam-1-1024x425.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2364\" style=\"width:512px;height:213px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instructors can use this <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/4031\/pages\/template-announcement-for-sauder-tech-check\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/4031\/pages\/template-announcement-for-sauder-tech-check\" target=\"_blank\">Canvas announcement template<\/a> to encourage students to self-enroll in the tech check course prior to the exam.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group sauder-accordion-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js is-open sauder-accordion sauder-accordion-first\" data-initially-open=\"true\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"false\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" id=\"accordion-2\"><h2 id=\"at-17604\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Before the Exam<\/h2><div id=\"ac-17604\" class=\"c-accordion__content\"><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-17605\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Exam Preparation, Build, Configuration, and Access<\/h2><div id=\"ac-17605\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">To assist instructors in preparing for an exam, here are some resources to show them how to: <br><br><strong>1. Prepare for an online exam<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2022<\/strong> Technical Checks \u2014 Instructors and students can self-enroll in the &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/92104\/modules\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/92104\/modules\" target=\"_blank\">UBC Sauder Exam Tech Check Course<\/a>&#8221; to identify any technical problems prior to the exam. This course informs students on what to expect when writing a Canvas-based exam and includes an &#8220;Integrity Pledge and Tech Check&#8221; quiz that will mimic an exam&#8217;s settings and question types, ensuring that students become familiar with the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2022<\/strong> Exam Rooms<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 The Undergraduate Office will be facilitating the booking of exam rooms and hiring of Invigilators. Please email <a href=\"mailto:ugooperations@sauder.ubc.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ugooperations@sauder.ubc.ca<\/a> to begin the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. Build the exam<\/strong><br><br>Learning Services requires <strong>10 business days<\/strong> of lead time to help an instructor build an exam. Instructors can also use them to pick from a pool of questions to create different versions of an exam for each student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a formula sheet or long content to embed in exams?&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/4031\/quizzes\/355101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Consider this toggle button solution<\/a>. If there is a formula sheet to embed, consider&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/sauderteachingplaybook\/embedded-formula-sheet-and-latex-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">typing the formulas in LaTeX syntax.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/files\/20188893\/download?download_frd=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">guidelines for building online assessments to minimize Academic Misconduct<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/sauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2022\/06\/Convert-a-Canvas-Quiz-to-a-Printable-PDF-for-Paper-Exams.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"4186\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Convert<\/a> a Canvas Quiz to a printable PDF for paper exams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even if the instructor is building their own exam, Learning Services will add an&nbsp;integrity pledge&nbsp;to the exam.&nbsp;Exam-saving reminders&nbsp;will also be added that guide students on how to check if their answers are saving in real time during the exam.&nbsp;In order for Learning Services to know when to add these components, contact&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"mailto:help@sauder.ubc.ca\" target=\"_blank\">help@sauder.ubc.ca<\/a>&nbsp;to let us know that your exam is ready for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. Configure the settings<\/strong><br><br>The following Canvas quiz settings are recommended \u2014 Learning Services will review every exam and configure accordingly. If an instructor is taking care of their own exam, these might be helpful guidelines as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Include the term and date in the exam title (e.g. 2021W2 COMM 333 Final Exam &#8211; April 2, 2022).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clarify in the instructions what students are and aren&#8217;t allowed to use in their exams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the time limit as the exact exam time (i.e. a two-hour exam will be 120 minutes)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Do not check the boxes:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;Allow Multiple Attempts&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Let Students See Their Quiz Responses (Incorrect Questions Will Be Marked in Student Feedback)&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the exam is published,\u00a0ensure that its column in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=1869&amp;action=edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;Grades&#8221; is set to manual<\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0 this will ensure that students do not see their marks immediately upon submitting the exam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. Give students access to the exam<\/strong><br><br>Upon publishing, a Canvas quiz is assigned to &#8220;Everyone&#8221; in the course by default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instructors can configure the exam to be assigned to different students at different times\/dates \u2014 i.e. one section in the morning, the other section in the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-10434-4152669141\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Assigning an exam to a course section<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-9973-4152101242\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Assigning the exam to individual students<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To set up exam times and dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leave the due date blank.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the &#8220;Available from&#8221; to be the exact time\/date when the exam is scheduled to start.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the &#8220;Available until&#8221; time to be 1 hour after the exam is supposed to end. This gives Learning Services a &#8220;cushion&#8221; to extend student timers in case they run into any technical difficulties \u2014 please note that students will still be restricted to the time limit.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the +Add button to configure other sittings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once again,&nbsp;<a href=\"help@sauder.ubc.ca\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"help@sauder.ubc.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learning Services<\/a>&nbsp;is happy to review all of these settings as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-small-font-size\"><strong>Adjusting student attempts and time during an exam<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides configuring the availability, instructors may also need to extend the time allowed per exam attempt or add an extra attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/4031\/files\/folder\/Canvas%20Documentation?preview=20189865\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/4031\/files\/folder\/Canvas%20Documentation?preview=20189865\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adding time to a student&#8217;s exam attempt and adding an extra attempt<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-small-font-size\" id=\"cfa\"><strong>Centre for Accessibility Student Access<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The steps above must be done for CFA students as well, since they are allowed extra time. In addition, if you are using Lockdown Browser on your exam, the CFA have requested instructors to log into their account on the CFA Website and under additional information space for the CFA students, input the Proctor Exit code for the exam season. This is the code that the invigilators use to exit Lockdown Browser during an exam to troubleshoot technical issues. A member of the Learning Services team will reach out to disclose this proctor exit code for you to enter in the CFA website. What to Expect<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">30 minutes prior to the exam, all the invigilators and instructors will meet to go over the requirements of the invigilators, room assignments, how the exam is set up and the specifics of the in-person exam. Invigilators will then go to their assigned rooms. Approximately 15 mins prior to the exam, students will be let into the room to set up their devices and troubleshoot any technical issues prior to the exam start time. When the exam begins, the instructor or invigilator will release the password to the students in their classroom. Students will enter the password and begin to write. Invigilators will monitor the student screens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least one day before your exam, Learning Services will create an MS Teams chat with instructors and invigilators. This chat will be used as a communications back-channel to resolve any technical issues that arise during the exam as well as to clarify any exam policies. This page displays information about student submissions and exam progress \u2014 it is also where extra time and extra attempts can be added, as well as where student activity can be monitored.<br><br><strong>\u2022<\/strong> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-26218-once-i-publish-a-quiz-how-do-i-use-the-moderate-quiz-page\" target=\"_blank\">Using the &#8220;Moderate This Quiz&#8221; page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/sauderteachingplaybook\/files\/2021\/08\/quiz_moderate.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2138\" style=\"width:478px;height:177px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Time can be added to any exam attempt in progress. If a student loses time troubleshooting a technical issue for example, this time can be given back \u2014 however, Learning Services does not typically do so unless 5 minutes or more is lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2022<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/4276\/pages\/adding-time-and-attempts?module_item_id=4283772\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/courses\/4276\/pages\/adding-time-and-attempts?module_item_id=4283772\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adding extra time for a student<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding Attempts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once a Canvas quiz is submitted, it cannot be re-opened. With permission from the instructor, students can be given an extra attempt in scenarios involving accidental submissions, timers running out during troubleshooting, and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Student work from their first attempt will not be overwritten \u2014 however, their answers will not show up when they begin their second attempt. Usually, students are advised to simply continue where they left off. All attempts will be available to view and grade in SpeedGrader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Monitoring Student Activity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Student activity can be monitored through Canvas Quiz logs, which provide live time-stamped information regarding a student&#8217;s progress on the exam, including which questions they have read and answered. It&#8217;s important to note that while the logs provide a good overview of the student&#8217;s activity, they don&#8217;t show a perfect play-by-play of activity. Accurate logs are not available for Fill-in-Multiple-Blanks, Matching, Multiple Answers, and Multiple Dropdown questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The logs are also helpful in determining how much time a student actually lost while troubleshooting, since every instance of exiting and resuming the exam on Canvas is recorded as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2022<\/strong> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Instructor-Guide\/How-do-I-view-a-quiz-log-for-a-student\/ta-p\/580\" target=\"_blank\">Viewing student logs<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js is-open sauder-accordion\" data-initially-open=\"true\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"false\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" id=\"accordion-4\"><h2 id=\"at-176011\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">After the Exam<\/h2><div id=\"ac-176011\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"sauder-accordion-content wp-block-paragraph\">How to review exam submissions and begin the grading process.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-176012\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Reviewing and Grading<\/h2><div id=\"ac-176012\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Student exams can be reviewed and graded immediately once submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student Logs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As mentioned previously, student exam activity can actually be monitored in real-time with student logs \u2014 even if they haven&#8217;t submitted yet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Instructor-Guide\/How-do-I-view-a-quiz-log-for-a-student\/ta-p\/580\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Viewing student logs<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grading Exams<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SpeedGrader allows instructors to mark exams and enter grades directly within Canvas. However, it&#8217;s important to note that there can only be one person using SpeedGrader at a time \u2014 if multiple TA&#8217;s or instructors are marking simultaneously, grades and comments will not save properly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-12774-415255021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Using SpeedGrader<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grades can also be entered manually into the gradebook, as well as through a CSV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-26359-4152813671\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Using Canvas Grades<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If an exam question was configured incorrectly (i.e. wrong answer defined), Canvas is only able to regrade multiple choice, true \/ false, and multiple answer question types.
