This section outlines best practices for communicating constructive feedback to students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-18400\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Why Provide Feedback?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-18400\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Facilitating detailed and timely feedback can help students get more out of their learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be specific so students know what actions to take moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be prompt so that the content is still relatively fresh and relevant in their minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sensitive, and focus on how students can improve rather than just listing what they did wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Formative<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Design lower-stakes opportunities for students to demonstrate knowledge. The more data points generated, the more guidance instructors can provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summative<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Summative assessments can be useful in evaluating each student&#8217;s overall progress. Results can be exported to a CSV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lthub.ubc.ca\/guides\/compair-instructor-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ComPAIR<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ComPAIR lets students review pairs of their classmates\u2019 assignments, side by side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scores for participation and performance can be synced to Canvas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lthub.ubc.ca\/guides\/peerscholar-instructor-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PeerScholar<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>PeerScholar is another peer review platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a \u201creflection\u201d stage built into the workflow for students to edit and resubmit their work after receiving feedback.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Feedback Providing effective and rapid feedback is imperative to student success.
