No appointment necessary, just drop in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/enroll\/44CAXW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Self-enroll into Canvas 101<\/a> &#8211; self-paced course designed to give you a basic overview of the features and functionality of Canvas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow the steps below<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start of Term<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To help you prepare your courses for the start of term in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canvas<\/a>, here are some steps we\u2019re recommending:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Confirm you can access your courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-bad8f078-d134-4b08-8872-3f7ee670cc4c\">\n<li>Confirm you see all your courses on your <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/canvas.ubc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dashboard<\/a>. If there are discrepancies, please contact your divisional chair\/assistant or relevant program office for current status.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Course copy or combining course sections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please email <a href=\"mailto:help@sauder.ubc.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">help@sauder.ubc.ca<\/a> if you need any of the following services:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Merge or cross-list your sections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reconnect a WordPress blog<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copy course content over from a previous Canvas course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For course copies\/merges, include in your email\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Source Course:<\/strong> Course Name, Term and Section you want us to copy material <strong>from<\/strong> (e.g. 2022W1, COMM101, Sec201)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Destination Course:<\/strong> Course Name, Term and Section you want us to copy material <strong>into<\/strong> (e.g. 2023W1, COMM101, Sec201)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to use any learning tools in Canvas, including Publisher integrations, contact Learning Services for an overview and requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Launch your course<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please add your <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/add-instructor-info-syllabus\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1308\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Syllabus<\/a><\/strong> in PDF format to the Syllabus link in your course. Go to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/add-instructor-info-syllabus\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1308\" target=\"_blank\">Add Instructor Info &amp; Syllabus<\/a> page to view step-by-step instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/add-content-assignments\/\" target=\"_blank\">Add content and assignments<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let students know who you are: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-26280-how-do-i-add-a-profile-picture-in-my-user-account-as-an-instructor\" target=\"_blank\">Add your profile photo to Canvas<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm your <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/adjust-your-grade-posting-policy\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1385\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Grade Posting Policy<\/strong> is set to &#8216;Manual<\/a>&#8216;.&nbsp; This will make all your grades hidden to student by default.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/publish-your-course\/\" target=\"_blank\">Publish your course<\/a><\/strong> by clicking the \u201cPublish\u201d &nbsp;button &nbsp;on your Course home screen to make it visible to students on the term start date (Sept. 6).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To open the course earlier to students, please see the screenshot directions at the bottom of the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/publish-your-course\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1305\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Publish Your Course<\/a> page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are teaching a <strong>BCOM<\/strong> course, see the Publish Your Course page for instructions on how to publish your course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even if your course is published earlier than the term start date, by default the course will release on Sept 6th at 12:00am if you do not customize the start date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are teaching an <strong>RHL Graduate <\/strong>course, the dates are set for you so you need only press the \u201cPublish\u201d button on your course home screen to make your course available to students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do not publish your course, students will not be able to access your course, but they will see it as listed in their future courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you have published your course <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ubcsauderteachingplaybook\/send-a-introduction-announcement-to-your-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">you can send an introduction announcement to your students<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.
