Welcome to our bee blog!
In BC, honeybee pollination is responsible for over 160 million dollars in agricultural production every year 1 . In Canada as a whole, this number is estimated to be over 750 million dollars, in the US, 14 billion dollars 1 . Can you imagine our agricultural industry without honeybees?
As part of the UBC Agroecology 260 course, we have developed this blog as the result of a problem-based research project. This project focused on the sustainability of introduced honeybee hives to an agroecosystem. (Our project objective and methods can be found under Introduction). Though this blog was primarily developed as a resource for the Land and Food Systems Orchard Garden (LFSOG), we hope that others interested in beekeeping will also find this blog useful and informative.
Enjoy!
