Conclusion

Should a second honey bee hive be added to the LFSOG, the economic start-up and maintenance costs associated with a Warré hive make it a more economically viable choice compared to a Langstroth hive. The Warré hive should be built and maintained by students using preventative methods that prioritize bee health, thereby minimizing treatment costs for pests and disease.

A Warré hive yields less extra honey than the Langstroth, but the high quantities of wax produced would present the LFSOG with a noteworthy economic opportunity: the LFSOG could diversify their sale of hive products to not only include honey, but also a wide range of local, natural wax products.
